Just got home from the Chi Alpha Winter Retreat. What words can I use to describe our time? Profound, substantive, sweet, rich.
Except for the handful of things I forgot to do (oops) everything went beautifully. The worship team was one of the best I have ever worked with. They are highly talented and serve with excellence. And they have a heart to serve. It's so not about them--they were willing to do whatever we wanted and needed. Beyond that, they are really sensitive to the Spirit of God and could follow His gentle leading.
Dr. Fee, of course, was outstanding. He's one of the foremost Biblical scholars in the world. He wrote the book about how to read the Book. I read his work years ago was amazed he was willing to speak to us this weekend. In addition to being in awe of his teaching skills and knowledge of history, I was pleased to have the privilege of having lunch with him and his wife, Maudine. What kind people! At one point Dr. Fee had fun with the students and called himself "Grandpa." : )
The retreat was the largest event that XA has had in this district. The campus pastors and student leaders did an outstanding job getting people to the retreat. Somewhere around 325 staff & students joined together. Excellent.
One other thing about the rest of the staff I serve with... These campus pastors are the real deal. They serve with great attitudes. They are creative (ask me one day about the hillbilly barbeque). And most importantly, they love their students and their God!

Great retreat, Stef. I wrote a little blurb about the hangman game on my site. You can check it out.
