Ah, Beautiful Jamaica

I'm home...

30 beautiful children, living in a children's home in the middle of Jamaica captured our attention for Spring Break. Along with 12 students and another staff member from American University I was honored to minister to the kids.

We spent our days doing a variety of things for the kids and the home in which they live. When we arrived the ceiling of their dining room was covered in mold. We scrubbed, scraped, bleached and painted the whole room for them. I have to say it looked pretty good when we were done. We also spent a TON of time with them--loving on them, playing with them, talking to them. We brought them a new game to play--do you remember foursquare? Once they got a hang of it they played it for hours! And hours, and hours... :)

One of the things I loved the most was the spontaneous moments with the XA students. Lots of meaningful conversations, lots of late nights talking about things that are important to their hearts. Mentoring moment upon mentoring moment...good times!

I'm so happy you got to go on this trip. I know how hard different it has been no longer being on one campus and not getting to do these things any more. Sounds like a good time.
